Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup Team News

The Wanderers host Cork City this Saturday night at the Carlisle Grounds in the first round of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Ford Cup.

The two league fixtures so far this season have been close affairs, the Wanderers were narrowly defeated at Turners Cross earlier in the season, losing 2-1 with Derek Foran pulling a goal back for the Seagulls in the 90th minute. While only recently at the Carlisle Grounds Cork City took all 3 points in a closely fought match, winning 2-0.

Last Friday nights match against Bohemian FC saw the Seagulls end a 4 game losing run with a 0-0 draw in what was a very physical match in Dalymount Park.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s match, Bray Wanderers Head Coach Harry Kenny said,

” We’re looking forward to the game v Cork City and hopefully our supporters will come out in big numbers to cheer on the team. I felt Seanie Mcguire was the difference between the two teams when we last met in the league at the Carlisle grounds. It was good to get a point in Dalymount last Friday and in particular keeping a clean sheet. Hughie Douglas wasn’t available for that game due to receiving stitches in his head so he will be assessed before the game”.

Harry Kenny will also welcome Peter Cherrie back to the match day squad after he served a one match ban after receiving a red card in our last home match against Finn Harps.

Kick off at the Carlisle Grounds tomorrow night (Saturday) is at 7pm, tickets can be bought from www.braywanderersfc.ie
