St. Pats had early chances when Dennehy caught Peter Cherrie off his line but his lob went just over the bar. Christy Fagan then headed over from a Byrne cross. Wanderers took the lead on 37 minutes when Gary McCabe’s free kick went in off the underside.

St. Pats started the second half on top and Hugh Douglas had to block a Billy Dennehy effort on goal. The equaliser came on 52 minutes when Conan Byrne headed in from a Killian Brennan cross. On 57 minutes, the Saints took the lead when Fagan scored from close range from a Graham Kelly pass,

Peter Cherrie then denied Fagan when the striker got in on goal. St. Pats added a third in added time when O’Hanlon got in on goal and side footed to the net.
