UCD started on top and Davis was forced into making a great save from Samson’s shot after eight minutes. UCD had a goal ruled out by a linesman’s flag on 14 minutes. UCD’s Hannigan was next to fire a shot at the keeper on 18 minutes. Aaron Byrne had Bray/Joeys first shot on goal after 24 minutes after been set up by Madaghjian’s pass.
A defensive error on 29 minutes allowed Omochere to run clear and shoot past Davis to open the scoring for UCD. On 44 minutes, a UCD corner by Hannigan was headed just over by Omochere. A minute after the re-start Davis was forced into another save and Madden drove the rebound high over the bar. On 52 minutes a short UCD goal kick was seized upon and Eoin Darcy beat Prenter at his near post to equalize.
The visitor’s improved from then on. On 61 minutes Madaghjian headed over from a corner. Substiture Sean O’Brien almost scored with his first touch but Prenter saved well. On 82 minutes, Samson fired just over for UCD. A minute from time, Jake Ellis made a good run down the left which resulted in his shot been blocked by a defender for a corner.
