The under 17s ladies team who have qualified for the Shield final

Bray Wanderers Ladies under 17’s had a fantastic 8-0 victory over Greystones at Berryfield in Enniskerry on Sunday afternoon to qualify for the Shield Final in their first season in the National League. It was a real team effort with Eve O’ Brien the star of the show scoring 4 goals while her strike partner Ava Treacy for the second game in a row recorded a hat-trick with Aoife Mohan putting the icing on a great team performance with goal number 8

The ladies under 17s defeated Carlow/Kilkenny 4-0 away on Wednesday, 16 December in the Shield with goals from Lucy Heffernan (25 mins) and a hat trick from Ava Treacy (34, 60 & 83 mins).

Carlow/Kilkenny: Rebecca Prenter, Sophie Hamilton, Hannah Bissell, Zoe Kelly, Casey Brown Roche, Sophie Madden, Ava Treacy, Aoife Mohan, Ella Moriarty, Lucy Heffernan, Eve O’Brien. Subs: Danielle Batt (Gk), Rebecca Gillan (for Hamilton, 72), Niamh Carry McLeavey (for Bissell, 61), Caitlin Lynch (for Treacy, 85), Sophie Davis (for Moriarty, 85), Molly Kathleen Crowe (for Heffernan, 61).

 

The Academy men’s under 19s were defeated in the Shield semi-final away to Sligo Rovers on Saturday, 19 December. Bray were reduced to ten men after just seven minutes when Steven Sweeney was shown a straight red card. Sligo took the lead through Sean Kerrigan on 23 minutes. Glen Hollywood equalised for Bray a minute before half time. Sligo took advantage of the extra man in the second half with goals from Cillian Heaney (58), Aaron Perry (61 & 86) and Johnny Kenny (77 & 90).
