Academy teams weekend roundup 5.10.20

It was a quite week-end for the Academy teams with only the under 19s and under 13s in action at the week-end. Both sides  had victories over Wexford FC with the under 13s recording their fifth successive league win of the season.

U19 action v. Wexford FC

The under 19s came from two goals down to defeat Wexford FC 4-2 in Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday in the Shield competition. Wexford were two up at the break thanks to goals from Daniel Tarcevskis (16 mins) and Andrew Farrell (35). Wanderers made three changes at the break and pulled a goal back on 69 minutes through Adlane Boulmelt. Dean O’Shea equalised two minutes later. The visitors sealed the win in the final minutes. Jamie Callaghan headed home from a corner on 87 minutes before a stunning free kick from Dean O’Shea secured the win.

The under 13s defeated Wexford FC 2-1 at the Carlisle Grounds on Saturday in their final group game in the league. This was the under 13s fifth successive league win in the group.

U19 action v. Wexford FC

Troy Finnegan put the home side in front on 17 minutes. Wexford FC equalised on 63 minutes. Matthew Britton scored the winner for Wanderers on 47 minutes. The home side finished the game with ten men after Mason Melia was sent off for a second yellow card on 65 minutes.
