Athlone Town v Bray Wanderers Match Preview

Bray Wanderers Match Preview

League of Ireland First Division

Athlone Town

Monday June 5, Athlone Town Stadium

Kick-off 7.45pm

Bray put their recent five-game unbeaten streak on the line against Athlone.

In what will be a fourth versus third encounter, just two points separate the clubs.

After Friday’s draw with league leaders Galway United, Head Coach Ian Ryan said “It was a brilliant performance. We were well worthy of the point. There were some very good individual performances. All in all, the way Galway have been going, you’d take a draw and move on.”

With the side now undefeated in their last three road trips, Ryan is looking forward to the prospect of facing the Midlanders.

“Before this series of games, we said to ourselves as a group that we’re playing Friday-Monday-Friday, so it won’t be the same team for each game.”

He added “It’s massive game for us. Athlone are a club that are there around us. The Galway point can be even better if we go and do our job on Monday.”

TEAM NEWS

Wanderers can welcome back both defender Cole Omorehiomwan and midfielder Harry Groome from suspension.

But winger Ger Shortt serves the second of a three-match ban.

Striker Jake Walker has resumed training. But like midfielder Guillermo Almirall, won’t feature against Athlone.

Dane Massey could return after missing the Galway game.

PREVIOUS MEETING

When the teams met back in April at Carlisle Grounds, the Wicklow side won 1-0 thanks to Cole Omorehiomwan’s second half strike.
