Bray Walking Football make their debut

A fantastic first tournament experience for the newly firmed Bray Walking Wanderers today.

A walking football blitz organised by Age and Opportunity saw the Walking Wanderers join seven other teams for their first set of competitive fixtures in the Shoreline Centre at the Ballywaltrim Recreational Park in Bray.

The lads thoroughly enjoyed the experience and while they saw great progression as they endured two defeats before a convincing 6-2 victory in their final group game.

There was also such a positive atmosphere and great camaraderie among teams from Wicklow, Dublin, Kildare and even Cork who travelled up for the blitz.

Head of Football Pat Devlin, General Manager Gary Lewins and FSR officers Robbie Doyle and Dermot O’Brien were on hand to show their support to the team who are growing something that is so much more than just football.

Special mention to Aidan O’Neill who is officially the first person to score a competitive goal for Bray Walking Wanderers!

Nex up this coming weekend is a mini tournament in Leixlip being hosted by their own local Walking Football team ‘Happy Feet’, and will include teams from Athlone, Swords, and Solihull Moors from England.

We are still looking for both men, and women over 55 years, to get involved with the Bray Walking Wanderers team.

All are welcome.
