Bray Wanderers are delighted to announce the double signing of Yoyo Mahdy and Seán Quinn.
It is hoped the duo will receive international clearance in time to be available for Friday’s home fixture with Wexford FC at the Carlisle Grounds.
“They are two good additions to the squad. We are really happy to have both of them in” declared Head Coach Ian Ryan who helped reveal the players along with Head of Football Pat Devlin on Wednesday evening.
“They are two lads we know well. We’ve been speaking to them for a while. They will add real quality to the group.”
Mahdy made a name for himself as a striker of League of Ireland repute after spells with UCD (with whom he won a First Division title in 2018), Shelbourne and Finn Harps
The 25-year-old comes to Wicklow having most recently been with Olympic Alexandria in Egypt.
“It’s only a couple of years ago Yoyo was the top goal scorer in the First Division. Hopefully, he rediscovers that form for us. And he certainly had the knack of scoring,” said Ryan.
24-year-old attacking midfielder Quinn has also played for both UCD and Shelbourne (achieving promotion in 2019). But moved to the United States to continue his education with Tampa Spartans (University of Tampa Athletics).
“Sean’s a really good player. He went off and did his studies in America. And he’s now back. We’re getting a plyer who has experience in the league, albeit he’ still young. But he’s full of energy, aggressive, good on the ball. He can score goals too” view Bray’s Head Coach.
Ryan went on to stress “Both players have won the First Division before. That’s important coming into this end of the year.”
Mahdy has been allocated a squad number of 32 while Quinn will wear number 33.
