This game was Cabinteely’s home game which was switched to the Carlisle grounds. Wanderers made eleven changes to the team that were defeated by Athlone Town three days earlier.

Brandon McCann brought down Nika Kalandarishvili just inside the left corner of the area on nine minutes. Former Wanderer underage player Luke Clucas duly converted the resultant spot kick. Adam Hayden saved from Jamie Woods and Kalandarishvili as Cabinteely tried to add to their lead. Anthony Purdy fired a shot across goal in the 40th minute in Wanderers best chance of the first half.

Sean Fitzpatrick heads home no. 2

One minute into stoppage time in the first half Sean Fitzpatrick headed home from a Zak O’Neill corner to double the lead for Cabinteely.

Anthony Purdy’s goal bound shot was cleared by a Cabinteely defender on 52 minutes. Wanderers pulled a goal back on 82 minutes when Luka Lovic headed home from a Richie Purdy cross. Hugh Douglas header inches wide in the closing stages as Wanderers tried in vain to force extra time.
