Leinster Senior Cup Group C v Evergreen FC

Friday January 26, Evergreen Park

Kick-off 7.30pm

Bray Wanderers kick-off their 2024 season with an away trip to Kilkenny to face Evergreen FC in the revamped Leinster Senior Cup.

In what will be the first ever competitive meeting between the clubs, Shelbourne and Wexford Fc complete the Group C line-up in the provincial Cup.

With several new signings over the closed season, Bray Head Coach Ian Ryan is looking forward to getting back to on the field action on Friday.

“For us, it’s pre-season games in a competitive form. It’s probably a good idea to introduce the Cup this way. It brings a competitive edge. But the main goal for us is to get to February 16 with a full and fit squad for UCD” he explained.

“We’re still gelling together. We’re together for three weeks now on the pitch. There’s lots of new bodies; lots of young lads. The first couple of weeks have been about getting an even amount of minutes into everybody. We’ve had two teams per half against (Shels and Wayside). As we progress, we’ll see more of a concrete eleven. And build up the minutes that way.”

Ryan added “It’s more the pre-season element. We’re trying to get minutes into the lads; trying to get match sharpness and then we get the added bonus of a competitive game against a really good amateur side in mid-season. It will test us.”
