Kerry FC v Bray Wanderers Match Preview

Bray Wanderers Match Preview

League of Ireland First Division

Kerry FC

Friday February 23, Mounthawk Park

Kick-off 7.45pm

Bray make the long trek to Tralee on Friday to face Kerry FC in their first away league match of the 2024 season.

Both clubs suffered opening days losses – Wanderers going down 2-1 at the Carlisle Grounds to UCD while the side from the Kingdom lost out 2-0 to Cork City at Turner’s Cross.

Acknowledging it will be a tough encounter, Seasiders Head Coach Ian Ryan remarked “It’s very early in the year. By all accounts, Kerry put in a really good performance last week. They’ve really strengthened their squad this year. They are a year into their journey now, so, they’ll be even more difficult to come up against. We know what to expect. But we’ll look to improve our own performance.”

But Ryan has backed the new-look Wanderers to bounce back after defeat to the Students.

“The emotion probably after that game was real disappointment. And we still are disappointed in the result. We probably had a good few chances which had we converted changes the whole game. In saying that, we didn’t match the performance levels we set throughout pre-season. So, we’ll be looking to up our levels again.”

Striker Cristian Magerusan is a doubt with a hamstring complaint.

Fellow attacker Peter Grogan misses out again with a knee problem. But has resumed training.

The teams met for the first time in the 2023 season – with Wanderers winning all four matches.

The Wicklow outfit secured maximum points at Mounthawk Park on two occasions – winning 2-0 last May while repeating that feat 3-1 last September.
