MARTIN RUSSELL
Martin Russell (First Team Head Coach)
Martin played for Belvedere before moving to Manchester United in 1984. He played almost 400 league games in his career for Birmingham City (loan), Leicester City (loan), Scarborough, Middlesboro, Portadown and St. Patrick’s Athletic.
As a player, Martin won the Irish league and Irish League cup in 1995/96 with Portadown. He was also the PFA Player of the year in 1992 while with Portadown. He won the League of Ireland premier division title in 1989/99 and the Leinster senior cup (1999/00) with St. Patrick’s Athletic. He retired from playing in 2003.
He was capped at International level for the Republic of Ireland at under 18, under 21 & “B” level.
Martin was assistant Manager at St. Patricks Athletic from 2003 to 2005 before moving to UCD as assistant Manager from 2006 to 2006. He became UCD’s manager in 2009 and won the First division title with them in 2009. In 2014, he returned to St. Patrick’s Athletic as assistant Manager but took over as Manager of Limerick FC in July 2014 and guided them to the First division title in 2016.
Martin was appointed head coach of Bray Wanderers on 8th June 2018.
