Carlisle Grounds, First Division, 28 March 2021
Bray Wanderers 2021 season got off to a disappointing start when they were held to a scoreless draw at home to League newcomers Treaty United, who played the last 25 minutes with ten men.
Bray lined up without any recognised striker with Gary Shaw on the bench and Darragh Lynch missing out through injury. Shaw was not 100% so Darren Craven operated in the centre forward role.
Craven, the ex-Malahide captain, had the first chance of the game when he got in on the right and forced Ryan into a great save after 8 minutes. Conor Clifford fired an effort over from long range three minutes later. Matt Keane had Treaty’s first chance, but he fired over after the ball broke to him on the edge of the area.
McSweeney fired over for Treaty from long range just on the hour mark. A good Bray move on the hour saw Lovic pick out Graydon’s run but the winger put this shot outside the post with Ryan beaten. Treaty were reduced to ten men when Sean Sweeney saw red for a second bookable offence on 66 minutes.
Steven Kinsella fired a shot across the goal from the right on 74 minutes. Three minutes later, Dylan Barnett came in at the back post and met Mark Doyle’s cross from the right, but the defender headed straight at Ryan. Ryan Graydon turned a Kinsella cross just wide with ten minutes remaining. Brandon Kavanagh fired a long range shot straight at Ryan on 81 minutes.
