Gary McCabe and Paul O’Conor returned to the starting team after missing out on Monday’s away defeat to Sligo Rovers. Dylan Hayes and Ger Pender dropped to the bench.

Wanderers were full value for their victory and started well. Gary McCabe fired wide on 13 minutes and Dan Kelly shot over on 19 minutes from the right-hand side.

Wanderers forced a succession of corners in the second half and were rewarded on the hour mark Gary McCabe’s corner from the left was headed home by Ronan Coughlan.

The lead was short lived as three minutes later as Nicky Low fired low into the bottom corner of Moran’s net. On 72 minutes Gary McCabe’s went past a handful of Derry players before passing to Dan McKenna. McKenna played in Coughlan who duly fired past Doherty.

Rhys Gorman was on hand to clear a Cofie’s touch off the line after Moran was beaten. Three minutes into stoppage time Derry were award a free kick just outside the area after a foul by Sean Heaney. Aaron McEneff’s shot was beaten away by Evan Moran and cleared as the referee blew the final whistle.
