On ten minutes, Aarion Greene set up Ryan Brennan who forced Winn into a save. Wanderers took the lead on 18 minutes when Anto Flood headed in from a Gary McCabe cross after his initial corner was cleared back out to him. Conor Kenna had the ball in the net a couple of minutes later but the goal was ruled out by the offside flag.
Wanderers doubled their lead on 26 minutes. Keith Buckley’s cross fell to Mark Salmon and he fired past Winn. Galway’s best chance of the first half came from Eoin McCormack who robbed Keith Buckley and shot just wide of post.
Galway pulled a goal back on 78 minutes. A Ronan Murray corner was headed home by Stephen Folan. Aaron Greene went close late on from a free kick.
