Bray Wanderers 2 Waterford FC 2
Premier division, Carlisle grounds, 14 May 2018
Wanderers injury jinx struck again in the warm up when Rhys Gorman picked up an injury. Dan McKenna, who had been named originally on the bench, came into midfield. Dylan Hayes started at right back. Wanderers took an early lead on three minutes. Gary McCabe worked an opening in the right hand corner and played the ball back to Dylan Hayes, and his cross was headed home by McKenna for his first goal for the club.
Ex-Wanderer Ismahil Akinade headed just wide from a Paul Keegan free kick. The Blues had another opportunity on the half hour following a move which resulted in Akinade crossing to Duffus who laid it off to Heny but he blazed over. The visitors equalised right on the stroke of half time. Keegan’s corner was headed home by Holohan.
The visitors went in front on 69 minutes when Courtney Duffus drove a low shot past Moran. Paul O’Conor headed wide with the goal at his mercy on 83 minutes. On the stroke of full time Dan Kelly took advantage of a slip by ex-Wanderer Dave Webster and he was brought down in the area by Dan Kelly. Gary McCabe held his nerve and duly dispatched the resultant penalty past Vigouroux.
