All at Bray Wanderers FC are deeply saddened following the passing of Nicky Kavanagh earlier today.
He was a long-serving club official – serving as medic, physio and kitman – over a near 30-year period.
He was an unbelievable loyal servant, alongside his great friend and club-mate Michael ‘Locker’ Davis.
Nicky was there back in 1985 when the club entered the League of Ireland.
And was a vital member of the back-room staff in the club’s 1990 and 1999 FAI Cup success’.
“It’s another terrible blow for us all, coming so soon (after club photographer) Michael Tierney’s passing. People like them are invaluable to clubs across the country,” said Head of Football Pat Devlin.
“On a personal note, he was a great friend of mine. We went through a lot together. He was loyal. A true gentleman. Loved by everybody. I will miss him terribly.”
The club would like to pass on our condolences to Nicky’s wife Geraldine, sons Gavin, Trevor, and Nicky (Junior), and all their extended family.
Funeral arrangements when available.
