U14 Match Report – Bray Wanderers 4 CK United 1

Bray Wanderers 4 CK United 1

Bray secured top-spot in Group A of the EA SPORTS MU14 LOI Eddie Wallace Cup with a come from behind victory over CK United.
The away side led 1-0 after the opening period on Saturday afternoon at Ballycorus.
But two goals in the second period and two more scores in the final period saw Wanderers maintain their 100% home record in the competition with a third success.
The Green and White’s had a early scare as goalkeeper Kai McSwiggan was forced to tip Brandon Treacy-Tobin’s corner onto the bar.
Bray went close on 14 as Joshua Henderson Finn was denied by netminder Callum Boland.
Almost immediately at the other end, the visitors took the lead.
Callum Slattery embarked on a mazy run. His shot was saved by McSwiggan. But Fred French Davis followed up to tap in the rebound.
The Seagulls dominated the second period with Aaron Kelly-Mladin hitting the crossbar on 29.
However, they levelled matters seven minutes later.
Alexander Emakhu broke free down the left channel to cross. Daniel Oluwadara Olusola got there ahead of Boland close in only to hit the bar. But the striker reacted to score into an open goal.
In the last play of the half, Olusola turned provider. He jinked free in the box off the left wing to strike goalwards from 16-yards. Boland parried only for Jack Lawless to be first to the loose ball and fire to the roof of the net.
The final period was just 30 seconds old when the Wicklow outfit grabbed a third.
Substitute Charlie Byrne played a sublime slide-rule pass to put in fellow reserve Harry Grainger off the right wing to make no mistake with a low 14-yard finish.
Byrne struck the post on 68 then the bar on 70. Play continued in the second instance. Olusola got there ahead of Boland and squared for Lawless to find the net with a well placed shot to the open goal from the edge of the box.
Elsewhere in the section, Cobh Ramblers handed Waterford FC their first loss in the section by winning 2-1 at the SETU Arena.
The results mean Bray have finished with 13 points from their five Group games. Cobh are a point behind in second while Waterford are third on seven points with one match against Kerry FC still to play.
