Bray did a superb U17 EA SPORTS League Of Ireland Academy – Tier Two (North) double over leaders Bohemians.
Adam Reid claimed the decisive score in the reverse fixture at Ballycorus at the start of July.
The striker was again on the mark on Saturday afternoon at the Oscar Traynor Centre before Philip Cooney’s penalty helped the Green and White’s secure their first away victory in the section.
On the back of a three-match losing streak, the visitors came closest in the opening period with Ethan Cheese’ shot being pushed onto the crossbar after some excellent build up.
But the breakthrough for came early in the second half.
In a flowing 49th minute move down the away team’s left wing, Cooney found Reid in the Gypsies 18-yard area. Reid turned cleverly and buried the ball past Rian Hogan in the home goal.
Cooney then doubled the lead on the hour, from the penalty spot, after Reid was brought down in the box.
The Dubliner’s piled on the pressure for the remainder of the second half. But the Bray defence held firm to keep a deserved clean sheet.
There was further positives with U15 goalkeeper Alex Forde coming on at half time. Then the player pathway was further highlighted with Sean Hennelly (U15’s) making his U17 debut off the bench.
Elsewhere in the section, St. Patrick’s Athletic defeated Athlone Town 4-0 while Longford Town and Finn Harps played out a score-less draw.
