U17 Match Report – Bray Wanderers 0 Wexford FC 2

Bray Wanderers 0 Wexford FC 2

Bray finished third in the EA SPORTS MU17 LOI Academy Group B despite ending the section with a defeat.
A goal in each period saw Wexford deservedly leave Ballycorus on Saturday afternoon with all three points.
Waterford FC topped the Group by beating Klub Kildare 2-1 at the SETU Arena today while runners-up Shelbourne overcame CK United 11-0 at the AUL Complex.
All the result means Wanderers claimed third spot – but level on points with Klub Kildare. Wexford finished a further point back.
When the teams met at Ferrycarrig Park last February, it finished 1-1. But the away side were much the better team second time round.
Darren Williams Oshun dragged wide of the target after nine minutes when well placed just inside the box.
But they forged a 16th minute breakthrough. Jan Wozniak was bundled over in the box. The striker picked himself up to convert the penalty.
The home team made a triple change at the interval including bringing on U15 Republic of Ireland international forward Billy O’Neill.
Just two minutes after the turnaround, Brandon Stafford crossed low from the right. David Winkler made a great point-blank save to deny Filip Wasilewski. But substitute Ciaran Scott slotted in the follow up close in.
The Slaneysiders almost registered a third score in the 81st minute. Brandon Stafford beat the offside. But one-on-one with Alexander Kearney, the Wanderers sub goalkeeper made a great block save.
