Bray Wanderers 1 St. Patrick’s Athletic 2
Bray were edged out by the odd goal in three in a very competitive U17 LOI Academy Phase 2 Tier Two (North) section game against St. Patricks Athletic
With the match moved from Ballycorus, it was played at TU Dublin Blanchardstown in Dublin on Saturday morning.
The Saints took the lead inside the opening three minutes when defender Caighlum Barry Mulvey hit a stunning strike into the top corner of the net.
Wanderers grew into the contest and started to get a good foothold in the Saints half. But it was the home side who extended their lead though just before the half hour mark.
A cross from Matt O’Hara was deflected but Michael Noonan’s looping header deceived visiting goalkeeper David Winkler.
The Seagulls continued to fight back in the second period.
They were rewarded on 64 minutes when Irish U15 striker Billy O’Neill buried a free kick from the edge of the box.
The Green and White’s were then denied a late equaliser when Phil Cooney tapped in a Ronan Dawson header at the back post but was adjudged to be offside.
