U17’s do double over Drogheda to claim third win in a row

Drogheda United 0 Bray Wanderers 2

A third successive victory kept Bray right in the race for top-spot in the EA Sports U17 National Underage League Group C.
It was also a third clean sheet on the spin for the Green and White’s who did a league double over Drogheda on Saturday afternoon.
Having beaten United 3-1 back in March at Berryfield Park in Enniskerry, the visitors plundered two second half scores at Head in the Game Park.
Having scored in the reverse fixture, Daniel Chukwu broke the dead-lock. After his initially shot was saved by the Louth goalkeeper, the winger followed up to bury the rebound.
Then a Drogheda defender diverted the ball into his own net which sealed the visitors success.
The result means Wanderers remain third in the Group.
That’s after leaders Shelbourne overcame Carlow/Kilkenny FC 9-0 at Killeshin AFC to remain three points clear of the Seagulls with two matches remaining.
Shamrock Rovers are still in second place – a point ahead of the Wicklow side – after their 9-0 away victory over Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park.
Bray will complete their home programme in the section by hosting Carlow/Kilkenny on Saturday May 21 at Ballycorus. The same day, Shels host Rovers at the AUL Complex.
Depending on those results, their final fixture away to Shamrock Rovers at Roadstone Academy on Saturday May 28 could be make or break in the race for a top-two placing. Shels are away to Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park.
