U19 Match Report – Bray Wanderers 2 Longford Town 1

Bray Wanderers 2 Longford Town 1

Bray ended their U19 LOI Academy League Tier 2 (North) campaign with a come from behind victory.

The Seasiders trailed Longford 1-0 at half time on Sunday afternoon at Ballycorus.

But hit back with two second half goals to end a three-game streak without a win.

The ‘Town hit the front after just seven minutes as Ryan Nolan finished off a set-piece.

Despite constant Bray pressure, the visitors held out to lead at the interval.

But Wanderers’ dominance paid off in the 64th minute when top-scorer Thomas Morgan fired in a beauty from the edge of the box.

When the teams met back at the start of July, Lewis Jacobs scored twice in the 4-3 triumph at Bishopsgate.

He came off the bench at half time this time round to snatch the 86th minute winner.

Morgan was the provider with a neat assist pass to Jacobs, who calmly slotted to the net.

The win means Bray finish in third place in the section with 22 points from their 12 league games, behind Sligo Rovers (27 points) and Dundalk (23 points)

It also means they will face Waterford FC – the runners-up from the League Tier 2 (South) – in what now is the knock-out Shield Quarter Final.
