U19 Match Report – Waterford FC 1 Bray Wanderers 0

Waterford FC 1 Bray Wanderers 0

Bray suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Waterford in the U19 LOI Academy on Sunday afternoon.

A first half goal was all that separated the sides in the Group A encounter at the SETU Arena Astro.

The Munster team grabbed what proved to be the crucial score in the 24th minute when Calum Flynn netted after a defensive mix up in the Wanderers penalty area.

Earlier, Jack Murray tested the home goalkeeper Jason Healy with a fierce drive from a narrow angle.

The second half was more open affair.

Seagulls stopper Jack Ross made a couple of routine saves before away striker Scott Browne almost levelled the scores. But the attacker pushed his effort narrowly wide of the target.

A period of sustained Green and White pressure followed with efforts from Ben Clarke, Hayden Roche and Browne again causing concern in the home defence. But on each occasion, the Blue’s managed to keep the ball out of the net.

The Seasiders thought they had equalised following an almighty scramble around the Waterford goal. Twice the ball looked to have crossed the goal-line but the officials were not convinced and waved play on.
