U19 unbeaten run comes to an end in Kerry

Kerry FC 4 Bray Wanderers 1

Bray’s recent unbeaten in the U19 EA Sports National Underage League Tier 2 Phase 2 record came to an end last Sunday.
The Seagulls travelled to Tralee with a depleted squad. They saw Kerry score twice in each period to end Wanderers three-game streak without defeat.
Having beaten Derry City (4-2) and Longford Town (3-2) away, Wanderers had also drawn with section leaders Cobh Ramblers 1-1 at Ballycorus last week.
The home team opened brightly at Mounthawk Park and raced into a two-goal lead with Cian Brosnan (third minute) and Daniel Okwute (13 minutes) finding the net.
But the visitors steadied the ship and went on to dominate the rest of the half for long spells.
Their clever football was rewarded on the quarter hour when Josh McGlone was fouled in the box and Evan Harte scored from the resulting penalty.
The Green and White’s continued to control the game and were unlucky to reach the interval in arrears after a series of chances.
However, two soft goals put an end to any comeback as Toger Silong (60) and Ronan Teehan (65) scored in quick succession for the home team.
The Wicklow outfit thought they’d pulled one back. The referee originally allowed the score but then chalked it off following a signal from his assistant.
Midway through the second half, Irish Schools international goalkeeper Jack Ross made his debut at this level. He re-joined the club recently after a spell with Shelbourne.
He was followed soon on the pitch by U17 player Lewis Jacobs who made his bow at U19’s.
