U19s do a Tier 2 Phase 2 double over Derry

U19 goal-scorers Evan Harte (2) and Josh McGlone.

Bray Wanderers 3 Derry City 0

Strike duo Evan Harte and Josh McGlone found the net as Bray did an U19 Tier 2 Phase 2 National Underage League double over Derry.
The pair were also on the score-sheet last month in the 4-2 away success over the Candystripes at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.
And in a solid team performance, they shared the Seagulls scores in Sunday’s 3-0 triumph at the Carlisle Grounds.
City set-up to contain the Wicklow hosts. But did not have the answer to skipper Zach Donohue’s left wing presence or the creation of space by Hayden Roche.
Wanderers struck twice in four minutes – either side of the first half water-break.
In the 22nd minute, Donohue was sent clear down the left flank. He played the ball inside the away defence for Harte to finish first time high into the net at the back post.
Then in the 25th minute, Conor McManus carried the ball out of central defence. He beat two opponents before setting Harte free. The striker skipped past a defender and then buried his 12-yard shot in the bottom far corner.
On his full debut at this level after recently coming back to the club form Shelbourne, Irish Schools international goalkeeper Jack Ross kept a clean sheet.
With the Green and White’s pressing high up the pitch, they registered a third goal just after the hour mark.
McGlone received the ball 22-yards out and curled it to the net with a stunning curling finish.
Right on full time, the home team went close again. In a fantastic one-touch move from right back to midfield, Jack Kehoe was released in behind the Derry rear-guard. But his powerful effort came back off the crossbar.
Elsewhere in the section, leaders Cobh Ramblers beat Finn Harps 3-2; second placed before kick-off Drogheda United lost 1-0 to Athlone Town; Treaty United defeated Wexford FC 3-1 while Kerry FC overcame Longford Town 5-2.
It all means Bray (16 points) move into joint fourth place alongside Drogheda, seven points behind Cobh (23), with Kerry and Treaty (19) in second position.
