Under 15s defeat Carlow Kilkenny

Carlow Kilkenny FC 0 Bray Wanderers 4

Goals in each of the new-look three periods saw Bray claim their first U15 EA Sports National Underage League win of the season.

In a Group C encounter on Sunday afternoon moved from Dermidus Park in Kilkenny to the all-weather at St. Patrick’s Boys AFC, Graiguecullen in Carlow, an early goal had Wanderers ahead.

That cushion was doubled in the second 30 minutes before the points were wrapped up in the final third with two late scores.

After starting the campaign with a 1-1 draw away to UCD, the Seagulls took a sixth minute lead. Following build-up play down the right wing, Jack Nolan provided the ball which was finished off by Phillip Cooney.

The away side had further chances in the opening half hour. But did not capitalise on them.

Just as it appeared Carlow Kilkenny were coming back into the contest, Wanderers made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute as Ross Young scored off an Ethan cheese corner.

A well worked set-piece saw Rhys Knight assist substitute Leon O’Sullivan to register a third goal in the 65th minute.

Defender Young bagged his second and the teams fourth in the 70th minute to wrap up the points.

Bray face into their first home match of the new season next Sunday (March 27)when they entertain Shelbourne at Ballycorus at 2.30pm.
