Under 17s defeated by Shels in league opener

Shelbourne 3 Bray Wanderers 1

Two late goals saw Bray fall to a 3-1 loss in their opening U17 EA Sports National Underage 2022 season fixture.

The teams went in level at the break on Saturday afternoon 1-1 in the Group C encounter at the AUL Complex in Swords.

But the Reds found the net twice in the closing stages to take the victory in the first outing of the new campaign.

The home side took an early lead. But the Seagulls restored parity before the interval. A corner taken by Joshua Kerr fell to Luke Nolan who hit it sweetly into the top right corner of the net.

The team return to action next Saturday (March 12) to host Drogheda United – provisionally at Ballycorus.
