Wanderers draw in Tolka

Shelbourne 0 Bray Wanderers 0

Tolka Park, First Division, 30 August 2019

Wanderers made two changes to the starting team from the team that drew with Cobh Ramblers a fortnight ago. Goalkeeper Adam Hayden came in for his first league appearance in place of Gabriel Sava and Luka Lovric started in place of the suspended Paul Keegan in midfield.

On a night in which the hosts could have clinched the title and promotion back to the premier division with a win and other results going their way the side played out an entertaining match in front of a crowd of 1,655.

Shels had the first chance of the game when Ciaran Kilduff headed over from a cross on the left from Karl Moore. Wanderers responded with Derek Daly firing a free kick just over the bar on 13 minutes. Denzil Fernandes was causing Wanderers problems down the Shelbourne right. Ex-Wanderer Ryan Brennan’s shot was deflected out for a corner off Sean Heaney on the half hour. Two minutes later, Hayden saved well to deny Brennan. Derek Daly forced McCabe into saving his free kick on 40 minutes.

Dylan McGlade shot wide after a good break by Bray on 55 minutes. Wanderers enjoyed good spells of possession in the second half. Ryan Brennan saw yellow for a bad tackle on McGlade on 70 minutes. McGlade shot just wide a minute later following a good run.

Luka Lovic forced McCabe into a good save with a long-range effort. Dean Williams shot just wide on 78 minutes following a good spell by Wanderers.

Fernandes had a quite second half, but his curling effort forced Hayden to save. Hayden saved from Kilduff in the final minute as the sides had to settle for a point apiece.
