Wanderers Launch Fundraising Campaign Ahead of Football’s Return

With news that the 2020 SSE Airtricity League season will return on July 31st, Bray Wanderers FC have today launched a fundraising campaign to help ensure the survival and to allow us to get the club, grounds and team ready for the return to action on the pitch.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge to us all, including Bray Wanderers FC, and the welcome return of football to the Carlisle Grounds brings with it many challenges which we must tackle.

2020 has been a real test for the club so far in terms of survival alone. Our players and backroom teams have all made huge sacrifices during this period to ensure the club’s survival for which we are extremely grateful.

Our underage teams across boys and girls teams have also not kicked a ball in over four months, and their return to football is still to be confirmed by the FAI.

Our volunteers, supporters and the local community have also rallied around to ensure that the club continues to function over the past few months and as ever we are thankful to them all for their continued support.

Primarily we must ensure that the Carlisle Grounds are safe for the return of football with many new measures to be introduced to comply with COVID-19 related health and safety guidelines to ensure hygiene standards and allow for suitable social distancing as with any workplace.

In order to get up and running, this will place a significant financial burden on the club and we are asking anyone who can help to assist the club during this challenging time to donate what they can. Whilst appreciating the effects COVID has had on everyone, we are appealing to the community, past players, friends and supporters of Irish football to help us in our journey. Any contribution small or large is appreciated….

With this support we hope to see supporters, both home and away fans, back in the Carlisle Grounds as soon as possible and enjoying our wonderful League!

Chairman Niall O’Driscoll added: ‘I am delighted with the support on getting the club to where it is and the commitment of all involved. It is so important now that we are coming back to continue the work ,to ensure we win off the pitch as well ,as hopefully on the pitch now that we can get back playing and give the whole community something to cheer about after a tough couple of months for everyone ii the country”
