Academy teams weekend round up 18.08.2019

The Academy under 19s were defeated 2-0 by Waterford FC at the Carlisle Grounds last Sunday. Waterford’s goals came from Colm Whelan (41) and an own goal from Conor Behan on 49 minutes.

Under 19 team v. Waterford FC: Jordan Walker, Cian Maher, Jamie Crilly, Cian Walsh, Alex Rafferty, Glen Hollywood, Luke Nolan, Evan Dunne, Jake Ellis, Conor Behan, Conor Dowling.

The under 17s advanced to the semi-final of the Mark Farren cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over Derry City at the Carlisle Grounds on Wednesday, 14th August. Ollie Mathews opened the scoring on 10 minutes after picking up a pass from Andrew Moran. Andrew Moran scored the second on 23 minutes while Ryan Bowden added the third three minutes before the break when he scored from close range. Derry improved in the second half and almost pulled a goal back on the hour mark when Evan McLoughlin’s long-range shot rebounded off the Bray crossbar. Darragh Lynch completed the scoring in added time when he scored from the penalty spot. The under 17s will now play St. Patrick’s Athletic at home in the semi-final.

An injury hit under 17 squad drew 2-2 away to Waterford FC at IT Waterford on Saturday, 17th August. Waterford took the lead on 19 minutes through Liam Kervick. Andrew Moran equalised on 42 minutes. The home side were reduced to ten men two minutes into the second half. Despite this, the blues retook the lead on 68 minutes through Loekan Oki. Waterford were reduced to nine men in the final minute before substitute Morgan Griffin equalised for the visitors with the final kick of the game. .

The under 15s defeated Finn Harps 5-2 in Drumoghill on Saturday. Goal scorers were Mark Tansey (3) and Ruben Moloney (2).
