U17 Match Report – Bray Wanderers 1 Bohemians 2

Bray Wanderers 1 Bohemians 2

Bray’s two game winning streak in the U17 EA SPORTS LOI Group A came to an end as they fell to a narrow 2-1 loss.

After victories over Derry City and Dundalk, the Green and White’s went down to Bohemians at Berryfield Park in Enniskerry on Sunday afternoon.

The Wicklow side were thankful to netminder Alex Forde for a couple of fine early saves before the Dubliner’s went ahead in the 23rd minute.

Andrew Paraschiv weaved his way in off the left flank. His low shot hit the foot of the upright and bounced across goal with Elisee Moke firing in the rebound.

The hosts drew level four minutes after the restart. Sub Philip Cooney floated a right-wing free to the back post.

The unmarked Cristiano Bramley controlled before former Seagulls stopper Joe Collins dived on the ball.

But under pressure from Jack Nolan, the ball popped out with Bramley hooking in from four yards.

Yet, the Gypsies grabbed what proved to be the winner in the 54th minute.

Christian Coyle’s low drive from the ‘D struck the right post. Moke followed up from the right with his effort deflecting to the net.

There was a controversial ending to the contest.

From Rhys Knight’s ball over the top in the 90thminute, Billy O’Neill raced through. As he attempted to lob past the advancing Collins on the edge of the box, the custodian collided with the striker.

The ball was cleared before the open goal by a covering defender. However, play was then stopped by referee Joe Byrne who brandished the goalkeeper with a yellow card – instead of the expectant red.
